Whether you are building a welcoming homepage or an 'About Me' section, everything starts with a blank canvas. This guide will take you from creating your first draft to publishing your page live on the internet.
1. Create a blank page
From your left admin menu, select Pages and click Add New Page.
Click on the largest text area at the top and type your page title (e.g., Homepage).
Press Enter on your keyboard. The system will automatically create a new empty line below for you to start designing.
2. Add content using the slash command
You don't need to use your mouse to search for tools. The system operates using independent "Content Blocks" (like paragraphs, images, buttons).
On any empty line, type a forward slash / on your keyboard. A menu will pop up. Type the name of the block you want to insert and press Enter.
The 5 most common Blocks
Heading (Type /h2): Used to break your content into digestible sections.
Paragraph: No shortcut needed, just start typing normally.
Image: The easiest way is to copy an image from your computer, press Ctrl + V, and paste it directly onto the page.
Button (Type /button): Create Call-to-Action buttons (Buy Now, Contact).
List (Type - and space): Automatically create a bulleted list.
3. Arrange your layouts
If you want your page to look professional (like splitting it into 2 columns or adding a custom background color), you need to insert a Container (Layout) first, then drop your content inside it.
Type / and search for one of these core layout containers. Once created, click the + icon inside the container to drop your text or images into it.
5 Layout Containers
Container | Core Function | Real-world application |
Group | Wraps blocks to apply a shared background color. | Creating a distinct background section for a Pricing table. |
Columns | Divides the screen in half or thirds. | Designing a layout with an author image on one side and text on the other. |
Grid | Automatically stacks to fit mobile screens. | Displaying product cards or service lists. |
Row | Aligns blocks horizontally. | Placing 2 buttons side-by-side (e.g., Buy Now / Contact Us). |
Stack | Stacks blocks vertically. | Grouping input forms perfectly for mobile screens. |
4. Lock and Publish
Before taking your page live, make sure you don't accidentally break your design structure.
Lock structure: Once you are happy with a specific section, click on it, select Options (3 dots) → select Lock to prevent accidental deletion.
Publish: Click the blue Publish button in the top right corner of your screen twice to make your page live.
5 shortcuts to optimize design speed
Create Synced Patterns: Highlight a group of blocks -> Select Create pattern. When you edit this pattern on one page, it automatically updates everywhere on your site.
Copy block styles: Click a styled block -> Select Copy styles. Click another block of the same type and Paste styles to instantly match colors and typography without changing the text.
Hide on devices: Open the right settings panel -> Visibility -> Choose to hide specific blocks on mobile or desktop if the layout breaks.
Group blocks instantly: Highlight multiple blocks and click the Group icon on the toolbar to wrap them together immediately.
